Measuring Inches with Mr. I
This week, we were introduced to our tenth Letter Person, Mr. I. Mr. I has inches all over his shirt, so we decided to dig into what inches are and how they can be used. We discussed inches and feet and how 12 inches make up 1 foot.
After we learned the basics, we partnered up and walked around the room measuring different objects with our partners. Each pair chose one object in particular they wanted to measure and share their findings with the class and to share with all of you.
Here is what we chose to share:
- our rocking chair is approximately 2 ft. tall
- one of our classroom books is 1 foot tall
- one of our John Deere tractors is 8 in. tall
- our November sign above our calendar is approximately 11 in. long
We had a lot of fun learning how to use rulers. We are looking forward to measuring more objects during math centers and other various activities in our classroom
